Unique Uses For Old Vinyl Flooring

Posted on

If you have decided that you have had enough of the vinyl flooring in your home, you might be ready to rip it up and replace it with something new. However, just what are your plans for that old flooring? Instead of simply throwing it away, you can take a few moments to reflect on the various things that can be done with it. This way, nothing goes to waste and you will have done something great with what would have otherwise been garbage.

Playhouse Floors

Are you planning to build a playhouse for your children or grandchildren? If so, you can make sure that their floors stay nice and clean by using the best parts of your old vinyl flooring. All you have to do is to cut it to size and glue it in place. If there is already a lot of old glue on the back of the vinyl flooring, you might want to try securing it with industrial sized staples that will not stick up out of the wood. Just make sure that you are using the staples along the edging of the playhouse flooring so you never have to worry about any of them working their way up and getting caught on little hands and feet.

Kitchen Cabinet Liners

Do your kitchen cabinets need new liners? All you have to do is measure the inside of your cabinets and drawers so that your old vinyl siding can be cut down to size. You can use industrial glue, staples, or tack strips to hold the vinyl in place. This way, you will not have to worry about it moving around too much whenever you take things in and out of the cabinets and drawers.

Plant Coasters

Do you love having potted plants around the house but do not like the water stains on your wood furniture as a result of a little leak? You can take some old vinyl flooring, cut two circles of the same exact size and then glue the two bottoms together so both sides are decorative. Just make sure that the circumference of the plant coasters are a little larger than the circumference of the plant base. Once the glue has dried, simply set it on your furniture, and set the plants on top.

As you can see, there should be plenty of things around the house you can do with some of your old vinyl flooring. All you need is a little time and some imagination. For more information about the uses of vinyl flooring, contact a company like Attractive Floorings Carpet One Floor & Home.
